Job Position: Part-time Chef

Hourly: $25.00

Position Summary:

Son of a Saint is looking for a part-time chef to join our team. This position will support the Son of a Saint Programming Team by preparing meals at the Son of a Saint headquarters for programming events using ingredients purchased by the Son of a Saint Nutrition Coordinator. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and attend weekly meetings with SOAS’s Nutrition Coordinator to meal plan for the upcoming week or month’s Sessions. 
  • Create a grocery list, including quantities based on number of attendees, for each Session meal.
  • Plan Session meals with consideration of ingredients SOAS has on hand as well as grown in the SOAS garden.
  • Plan Session meals with consideration of the SOAS budget.
  • Engage with mentees who are in the office.
  • Assist SOAS staff members in serving meals and monitoring portion sizes.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area during and after meals (wash and put away any dishes used, pack leftovers, etc.)
  • Serve as back-up for Maintaining inventory and ordering groceries and supplies as needed
  • Preparing high quality meals in accordance to SOAS's standards
  • Collaborate with our Nutrition Coordinator to develop new and health menu options
  • Assist with special events and catering functions, as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Experience with meal preparation
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Experience working with youth
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and is able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of event planning practices and techniques

Certification Requirements:

  • Active ServSafe Certification or the ability to get it
