Job Description
Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 (Gross Annual)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and strategic Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations of Son of a Saint. The successful candidate will manage accounting operations, ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations, and contribute to our mission-driven goals through sound financial planning and analysis. This position is responsible for performing all accounting, financial processing, reporting, and related data management functions. This includes system administration, management, and maintenance of all QuickBooks Online functions; accounts reconciliation; AR/AP management; tax and audits preparation; contract and budget management, tracking, and forecasting; and all other critical fiscal management responsibilities. This role requires a passionate individual with strong leadership skills and a heart for community service. This individual will report directly to the COO/CFO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial activities including accounts payables, receivables and grants management.
- Develop and manage budgets in alignment with organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing nonprofit finances.
- Prepare and present accurate financial reports to senior leadership and board members.
- Conduct financial analysis to support strategic planning and program expansion.
- Assist the COO/CFO with internal audits and coordinate with external auditors during annual reviews.
- Manage cash flow, fundraising income, and expense tracking.
- Implement and maintain financial policies and procedures that promote transparency and accountability.
- Support grant applications and reporting requirements with detailed financial documentation.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Oversee accounts payables and receivables.
- Maintain account balances and bank statements.
- Work with all functional areas to provide timely reviews and reports of their financial status and progress within their various grants, programs and activities.
- Maintenance and improvement of chart of accounts and determine proper account coding for all classes of transactions in accordance with SOAS policy.
- Works closely with the COO/CFO on audits and taxes.
- Understands revenue and expense allocations and track those allocations against dynamic budgets.
- Assist with Son of a Saint Scholars (STO) Management.
- Participate and collaborate with the COO/CFO and Leadership Team on the annual budget.
- Preparation of monthly financial statements on a timely month-end close schedule and communicate reports and regulatory documents to the COO/CFO.
- Manage general ledger and assist month-end and year-end close processes.
- Analyze daily, weekly and monthly cash flow statements and report to COO/CFO.
- Review and report 1099 documents.
- Analyze financial reports and provide reports to COO/CFO.
- Protect Son of a Saint’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Implement and maintain sound internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent managerial skills and ability to evaluate the work of others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of organizations applicable financial practices and procedures, as well as a thorough understanding of state and federal rules and regulations.
- Proficient with accounting software and standard office and accounting equipment.
- Must be resourceful, be able to problem solve and think critically.
- Ability to work well under pressure and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and re-prioritize efforts when plans change.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA designation highly preferred.
- Five years of management experience in finance with a similar organization or with a major CPA firm.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
