Job Description

Work Duration:

  • 183 Days
  • 7.5 Hours/Day

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains accurate health records and reports
  • Conducts periodic health appraisals, evaluations, and maintains follow through on individual students
  • Acts as health consultant and resource person
  • Provides counseling and guidance with students regarding health concerns
  • Assesses environment for health and safety
  • Investigates and prepares accident claims under Workers' Compensation Program
  • Implements policies for emergency care, first aid, and administration of medication in cooperation with medical and administrative personnel
  • Coordinates all facets of the school health program within the school and community
  • Conducts on-going evaluation of the school health program in terms of accepted standards and changing needs

Certification Requirements:

  • Holds a current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Louisiana (Registered Nurse)
  • 2 years experience in generalized nursing practice in a controlled, supervised nursing environment
  • Knowledge of public health nursing and/or school nursing experience desirable
  • Must be willing to travel to different school sites upon request
