Job Description
Position Title: Community Engagement Assistant (Part-Time)
Reports To: Community Engagement Manager
Organization: Son of a Saint
Compensation: $15/hr
About Son of a Saint
Son of a Saint is a New Orleans-based nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of fatherless young men through mentorship, education, emotional support, and life skills development. Our mission is to inspire and support these young men to reach their highest potential.
Position Summary
The Community Engagement Assistant will play a vital role in supporting Son of a Saint’s volunteer, mentor, and alumni engagement initiatives. Working closely with the Community Engagement Manager, this position will help ensure that volunteers and mentors are effectively connected to meaningful opportunities and that alumni remain engaged with the organization’s growing network.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Community Engagement Manager in coordinating and assigning volunteers for community events and organizational activities.
- Communicate with prospective mentors and volunteers to share program information and guide them through the onboarding process.
- Maintain and update volunteer and mentor databases to ensure accurate contact and participation records.
- Support the planning and execution of community engagement events, workshops/trainings, and alumni activities.
- Assist in developing and distributing communications to volunteers, mentors, and alumni, including event invitations, newsletters, and engagement correspondence.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for engagement initiatives and organizational events as needed.
- Help foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants, volunteers, and community partners.
- Connect with Alumni Mentees monthly on volunteerism, general engagement, etc
- Coordinates events for mentee alumni to include volunteering with Son of a Saint events and activities coordinated by other nonprofits in the greater New Orleans area.
- Assist with developing alumni into mentors
- Manages alumni support requests
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Experience with event coordination, volunteer management, or community outreach preferred.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and comfort with CRM or volunteer management systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Passion for Son of a Saint’s mission and commitment to community impact.
- Undergraduate degree preferred.
Compensation and Hours
- This is a part-time position.
- Mon - Friday, and Weekends as Needed.
- Working Hours may vary week to week.
