Job Description

Job Title: Cafe Manager


Reports to: Director of Operations/owner


Customary Work Days: Monday - Sunday with two consecutive days off, weekend and ocassional evening availability required


Customary Work Hours: between 6:30 am - 5:00 pm (35-40 hours/week)


Compensation: starting at $21/hr. Pay negotiable depending on experience.
$100 monthly benefit stipend after 6 weeks. Raises up to 3 times a year. Tips when applicable.


Summary: The Cafe Manager will serve as the primary leadership partner in the Algiers Point cafe, our flagship cafe. This role will require a hands-on, dedicated, communicative, collaborative individual who can lead the cafe staff in curating an excellent customer service and quality food and beverage experience for the customer.

The Algiers Point neighborhood is extremely community oriented. We are looking for a manager who is interested in not only leading our cafe, but also building and maintaining great relationships within this neighborhood!


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work 1-4 bar shifts a week with 1 administrative day
  • Place and receive orders
  • Write cafe staff schedules; manage time off and holiday requests
  • Set and exemplify excellent customer service standards and barista skills
  • Work with cafe staff to create fun, new and interesting menu items
  • Manage coffee quality control
  • Encourage a positive work environment and promote collaboration and communication within the team
  • Maintain cafe organization
  • Regularly communicate with Ownership and Director of Operations on business needs
  • Train, grow, nurture and support team

Qualifications and Essential Skills:

Living in Algiers Point is not a requirement, though it is a huge plus!

  • Collaboration skills
  • Previous barista training and coffee knowledge a plus
  • Cooking and baking experience

Physical Demands:

  • Repetitive actions
  • Consuming caffeine daily and multiple times a day
  • Ability to work in a busy cafe environment for extended shifts

Other Skills: Excel or equivalent spreadsheet software, general computer knowledge, cafe equipment knowledge, and cooking experience are a plus.

Work Environment: The Cafe Manager will be working indoors and with baristas. Good communication and a positive work attitude is a must. Cafe managers will be expected to lead collaboratively and act as a support to a skilled and capable team.
