Position Summary

As a Remote Online Proofreader at Softtek, you will play a critical role in ensuring our written content—across client deliverables, internal documentation, marketing copy, technical manuals and other digital assets—is grammatically correct, clear, consistent and polished. Working entirely from your home office, you will collaborate with content creators, editors and stakeholders across time zones to uphold brand standards, readability and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and proofread a wide variety of written materials such as articles, blog posts, white papers, technical documents, marketing copy, and internal communications to ensure accuracy in grammar, punctuation, style, spelling, and formatting.
• Compare proofs with original documents to verify that no unintended changes occurred and that the text aligns with brand voice, style guidelines and client expectations.
• Mark up corrected documents and provide feedback to writers/editors regarding issues such as clarity, consistency, tone, and readability.
• Ensure that style guides, glossaries and other editorial standards are maintained and updated as necessary.
• Work with content management systems (CMS), version control, spreadsheets or other tracking tools to document changes and manage workflow.
• Adhere to deadlines and manage multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
• Participate in remote meetings, collaborate with team members across geographies, and respond to queries from writers, project managers or clients regarding edits and proofreading.
• Assist with quality assurance of final published content (digital or print) by performing final checks before release.
• Continuously improve your knowledge of grammar, punctuation, style trends, accessibility standards and digital content best practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of professional proofreading, editing, content review work (remote experience preferred).
• Excellent command of English grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax and style.
• Strong attention to detail, consistency and quality orientation.
• Familiarity with style guides (such as APA, Chicago, MLA, or corporate style) and ability to apply brand voice guidelines.
• Comfortable working with digital tools: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets), CMS/editorial tools, version history and tracking systems.
• Ability to manage time independently, work remotely with minimal supervision, meet deadlines and adjust to shifting priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating in a remote team environment.
• Tech-savvy mindset: ability to self-set up and use a reliable home office environment (internet connection, PC/laptop, comfortable workspace).
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field preferred—but not required for proven experience.

Compensation

• Hourly Rate: $28 – $39 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
• This is a full-time, exempt (or hourly) remote role with the expectation of approximately 35-40 hours per week.
• Overtime or additional hours may be available based on business needs and project demands.
