FIRE Program Facilitator – Job Description

Title: Program Coordinator – FIRE: Families Involved in Respect & Empowerment
Reports to: RefinedCE Executive Director (with close collaboration with Technical Advisor – Operations)
Location: Within a 30-minute drive of St. Rose, LA
Position Type: Part-time contract (Nov 2025 – Apr 2026), with potential to extend

About the Program

The FIRE Program (Families Involved in Respect & Empowerment), developed by MOGASlife™ and implemented by RefinedCE, empowers youth (ages 13–18) and their families to live and lead with Love, Honor, and Peace. Through weekly sessions, monthly community meetings, and hands-on field experiences, families build civic awareness, leadership skills, and collective empowerment. The program is funded by the Hive Fund for Climate & Gender Justice.

Responsibilities

Program Facilitation & Delivery (Primary)

  • Facilitate three half-day Saturday sessions each month, focused on social-emotional learning (SEL) and youth and family leadership.
  • 4 Tuesday afternoons for planning purposes
  • Co-facilitate SEL sessions with the Technical Advisor one to two times each month.
  • Facilitate and support one full-day Saturday Environmental Justice field trip each month, in collaboration with the Technical Advisor.
  • Manage set-up, scheduling, and materials for sessions, youth, and families.
  • Support guest speaker coordination, field trips, and service projects.

Family Engagement

  • Maintain consistent communication with families to encourage participation and attendance.
  • Provide reminders and follow-up for sessions and events.
  • Ensure consent forms and attendance records are collected and organized.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain attendance sheets, outreach logs, photos, and safeguarding files.
  • Upload monthly documentation to the shared “Reports & Deliverables” folder.
  • Support data collection for Hive Fund reporting.

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Track safeguarding training and maintain confidential records.
Qualifications
  • Experience in program facilitation, youth development, or family-centered initiatives.
  • Knowledge of social-emotional learning (SEL) practices and the ability to model SEL skills.
  • Familiarity with environmental justice (EJ) issues, especially in Louisiana and the Gulf South.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to family empowerment, civic engagement, and justice-centered leadership.
  • Ability to work Tuesday afternoons and one Saturday per month (required).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) preferred but not required.

Compensation

  • Stipend: $900/month
  • 4 Tuesday afternoons for planning purposes + 4 Saturdays per month for programming  -- Nov 2025 - July 2026 (9 months)
  • Approx. 28-30 hours per month (Including Planning/Set-up)
