Job Description

JOB TITLE: Marketing & Communications Coordinator 

TERM: December 1, 2025 - May 1, 2026 

REPORTS TO: Sydni Raymond, Director of Marketing & Communications  


COMPENSATION: This contract is paid via an organizational stipend and offers invaluable experience for those interested in non-profit, event marketing, public relations, direct marketing, and project management. Additional perks are provided during event load-in and festival days. The total compensation package includes an hourly rate of $20/hr and free parking. The contractor will be paid a day rate during the week of the festival.


ROLE FUNCTION: French Quarter Festival, Inc. (FQFI) is a non-profit organization with a core team of eight, each leading their respective departments. The Marketing & Communications (MARCOMMS) Department, under the leadership of the MARCOMMS Director, is seeking a Marketing & Communications Coordinator to support FQFI programming remotely and in-office.


This role provides the opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of the MARCOMMS Department and is crucial for planning and preparing FQFI events. The coordinator will handle various communications and marketing tasks, work closely with media and partners, and manage confidential material and contracts. This position is especially critical in the months leading up to festival days and during the events themselves.


The coordinator is expected to be punctual, professional, and efficient, whether working in the office or remotely. They will take direction from the MARCOMMS Director and may also interact with festival attendees as representatives of FQFI, always maintaining professionalism and discretion.


TIME COMMITMENT AND JOB DUTIES

Weekly office hours are flexible, depending on the time of year, divided into two phases:  

OUT OF PRODUCTION (December - February): 6-10 hours/week  

  • Enter music schedules and culinary menus into the database for publication on the website, app, and brochures.  
  • Research and update artist bios.  
  • Represent FQFI at press conferences.  
  • Assist with writing and editing the official festival brochure and press releases.
  • Develop monthly newsletters.  
  • Create press kits and manage media credentials.  
  • Help produce the media schedule.  
  • Conduct community outreach and distribute brochures.  
  • Design social media graphics for upcoming programming.  

PRE-FESTIVAL  (February - April): 15-25 hours/week  

  • Manage the media center during the event.  
  • Support the social media team and photographers.  
  • Assist with signage, load-in/loadout, and event setup.  
  • Serve as a production assistant for media broadcasts.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

During Festival (30-40 hours/week)

Must have full time availability during the week of April 13 - 19, 2026. (Must be available all day each day of event; 8AM -10PM) MANDATORY

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Team player with strong organizational skills.  
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.  
  • Ability to make independent decisions.  
  • You must have a working laptop.  
  • Attention to detail.  
  • Creative and fun approach to tasks.  
  • Proficiency in:

    •   Google Suite  
    •   Canva  
    •   Hootsuite  
    •   WordPress
