Job Description

Position Summary
The Director of Special Projects will be responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of NOLA-PS special projects, initiatives, programs, and activities. This individual will ensure the successful integration of assigned projects and evaluate and monitor these projects to ensure the identified objectives are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, and implement special projects assigned by the Superintendent or designee;
- Employ project management principles, techniques, and best practices to ensure projects are successful from inception through to completion;
- Draft timelines and action plans for short and long-term projects;
- Monitor project progress, provide timely updates to all stakeholders, and recommend modifications and alternative solutions as needed;
- Prepare informational materials for meetings and presentations ;
- Evaluate the effectiveness of assigned projects and take initiative in resolving issues as they arise;
- Collaborates and serves as a liaison with various stakeholders to operationalize and coordinate projects based on the prescribed timeline;
- Convene and facilitate internal and external meetings regarding the implementation and execution of special projects;
- Attend meetings with representatives from outside agencies that are partners with the district or desire to be; gather information and determines the feasibility of the district’s participation and makes recommendations to the Superintendent or designee;
- Represent the district at community meetings and events;
- Conducts research and data analysis in support of core initiatives and special projects and communicates findings ; and
- Performs other duties as required.
Educational and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or similar area of study, required.
· Minimum of five years of project management experience.
· Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build trusting and collaborative relationships.
· Excellent written and verbal skills.
· Ability to create clear and precise project plans.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Highly resourceful with the ability to problem solve.
· Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
· High level of flexibility, confidentiality, and discretion.

- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) part of the workday;

- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements rarely;
- Normal setting for this job is an office setting.

Performance Evaluation
The employee will be evaluated based on the above position using either two methods: via COMPASS or a NOLA-PS evaluating instrument. If the employee holds an Educational Leadership certification, he/she will be evaluated via COMPASS to ensure renewal of certification.
