Hourly Paid Annualized at $26,528 with potential increases up to $31,833

Responsibilities

Provide transportation services for students over scheduled routes and/or to and from special excursions, including but not limited to:

• Ensure safe operation of the vehicle and safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from the bus

• Advise students and passengers of appropriate behavior and reinforce guidelines to maintain safety

• Assess incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations and be able to recommend a resolution

• Inspect vehicles' interior and exterior to ensure safety, appearance and sanitation in accordance with federal, state and local laws and guidelines

• Prepare various reports to document activities, provide written reference, convey information and comply with guidelines

• Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders 

Certification Requirements

 • High School diploma, equivalent, or the ability to obtain diploma or equivalent within 12 months of employment

• Must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with school bus, passenger and air brake endorsements upon hire

• Previous bus driving experience and experience working with children strongly preferred

• Ability to operate various school buses, wheelchair lifts, restraining equipment and two-way radio

• Three (3) years of accident free and violation-free driving record

• Must complete a CDL physical, passenger management, handling children with special needs training, defensive driving and air brake training

• If applicant lacks these skills at date of hire, they must be acquired within 60 days of hire
