Position Description: Assistant Director

 

Reports to: Executive Director

Incorporated in 2014, Hotel Hope is a nonprofit, interfaith organization that provides emergency housing to women and their children while guiding them to self-sufficiency and self-empowerment through intensive case management in a safe and loving atmosphere. At our emergency shelter hotel, we respect the dignity of all human beings and believe in providing opportunity to all.

 

Position Summary: 

Hotel Hope seeks a dynamic self-starter interested in joining our organization as Assistant Director. The ideal candidate will be a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded leader. In this newly developed role, you will work side by side with the Executive Director supporting operational, fundraising, and administrative tasks as needed. You will also play a leadership role in the strategic planning process, charting Hotel Hope’s growth over the next five years.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

·         Directly supports Hotel Hope’s mission, vision, values, and goals

·         Works closely with the Executive Director to oversee the effective operation of the Hotel Hope facility and emergency shelter programs.

·         Ensures Hotel Hope policies and procedures are established and followed by all staff and volunteers.  

·         Works with the Board of Directors, staff, and other stakeholders to create a strategic five-year plan and implement new processes and approaches to achieve it

·         Develops and executes Hotel Hope’s annual fundraising plan in collaboration with Executive Director and Development Committee, including grant writing, event planning, individual donor cultivation, and annual fundraising campaigns. 

·         Working with the Development/Communication Committee, develops and executes plans to promote Hotel Hope’s brand within the community and build awareness relative to the needs of the homeless women and children we serve.

·         Oversees social media strategy to improve brand awareness and support.

·         In collaboration with Executive Director and Finance Committee, drafts the annual operating budget and monitors budget progress. 

·         Oversees all grant reporting and data collection requirements.

·         Maintains strict confidentiality of all information

 

Recordkeeping and Recording:

·         Reports critical incidents immediately to Executive Director

·         Collects data necessary to meet funding requirements and statistical reports for all grants

·         Completes monthly report of services received by guests staying at Hotel Hope

 

Teamwork and Collaboration:

·         Works closely with all staff to facilitate a team environment

·         Provides leadership for behavioral health and models effective team behaviors

·         Demonstrates effective communication skills in building relationships with all employees, guests, and other nonprofit service providers

·         Creates good working relationships with other service providers to facilitate access to local resources for guests

·         Substitutes for another staff member when the need arises

·         Willing to work a flexible schedule when needed (including occasional evenings and weekends).

·         Enthusiastic about building positive, professional relationships with guests, staff, community agencies, and local businesses.

 

Qualifications:    

·         Master’s Degree in related field preferred.

·         Five or more years of relevant experience.

·         Three or more years in supervisory or management role

·         Experience working with homeless populations preferred.

·         Able to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive manner.

·         Understands professional boundaries

·         Demonstrated skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Excel and Word.

·         Ability to lead a team. 

·         Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both verbal and written form.

·         Proven ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.

·         Ability to respond quickly to change.

·         Demonstrated ability to work effectively under stressful conditions.

·         Must be willing to work in emergency, crisis, or disaster situations
