The Equipment Mechanic I (Vehicles) is an entry level mechanic and assists the Equipment Mechanic II and Equipment Mechanic III in performing corrective and preventative maintenance repairs.  This individual is responsible for the distribution and minor maintenance of all New Orleans Morial Convention Center equipment.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.  

Perform day to day assignments via work orders and/or instructions from Foreman to ensure timely and accurate completion. 

• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment batteries, check water levels and proper terminal connections and load test batteries to ensure proper function.
• Assist the Equipment Mechanic II and Equipment Mechanic III in performing troubleshooting, corrective and preventative maintenance on MCCNO Equipment.

Maintain a list of inoperative equipment, note repairs and physical condition of equipment and inform the Foreman of any equipment requiring repair or replacement. 

Assist external service vendors and contractors as required in completing their contractual obligations in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. 

Comply with established inventory, equipment distribution, equipment operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the efficient, effective and safe operation of the department. 

Interface all equipment repairs in harmony with other internal functional departments as required minimizing disruption and maximizing effectiveness. 

Adhere to the policies regarding MCCNO and departmental procedures. 

 Qualifications:

• One to two years’ related experience and/or training in a convention and/or large multi-purpose facility.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 
• Technical School background or apprenticeship program in related field preferred.
