Job Description

MD Energy is a rapidly growing energy management company that serves some of the area’s largest businesses, including real estate owners, restaurants, and manufacturers. We provide consulting services for utilities across the United States, and we are looking for customer centric individuals to join our team. We are looking for a dynamic and highly driven individual to join our team as an Energy Advisor in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Energy Advisor will be responsible for performing business, contractor, and project development activities for Entergy New Orleans’ energy efficiency program, Energy Smart. The Advisor will leverage existing relationships with customers and contractors and generate new business to build the pipeline of energy-savings projects to meet program goals. This individual will target high potential prospects, build, and maintain relationships with key customer accounts and segments, identify energy savings solutions at customer facilities and conduct pre and post inspections of installations of energy efficient initiatives. 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


•Serve an energy advisor by helping customers with their unique opportunities and energy efficiency initiatives


•Work directly with Energy Smart commercial and industrial program team, which includes marketing, outreach, operations, engineering, training, and management functions


•Work in the program office as a representative of the Energy Smart program


•Assist with completing project application submissions from customers, contractors, engineers and consultants, and other program participants in order to ascertain compliance with program guidelines and procedures


•Accurately maintain, update, and add entries to the system databases


•Provide assistance with customer service, scheduling and other issues as needed


•Direct communications with customers and trade ally contractors


•Identify and implement process improvements


•Cultivate and develop new business through building and existing relationships with professional organizations and trade allies


•Identify and source energy efficiency opportunities through a multifaceted approach, to include outbound sales calls, emails, and outreach efforts

•Attend meetings and events with prospective clients. Attend and participate in networking events


•Act as the customer’s advocate to ensure the customer obtains accurate knowledge of efficiency rebate programs in the market place


•Maintain and update information in CRM system


•Educate and increase customer awareness of bottom line benefits resulting from energy conservation solutions


•Participate in and support traditional and digital marketing campaigns and initiatives


•Assist with additional projects and initiatives as needed


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED


•Minimum of one (1) year of experience with energy efficiency technologies and utility incentive programs


•Three to five years of sales or outreach experience


•Two to three years of experience in energy efficiency industry. Strong understanding of energy efficiency technologies and energy savings solutions is highly desired


•Experience with tracking systems and databases


•Exceptional relationship building and management skills


•Outstanding interpersonal skills and client service orientation. Ability to connect quickly with others and establish rapport

•Ability to work successfully at all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors


•Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions


•Strong organizational and planning skills. Strong follow-up and follow through skills. Demonstrated ability to successfully close sales


•Sound business ethics, including demonstrated ability to manage and protect proprietary and confidential information


•Ability to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment


•Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effective listening and probing skills


•Professional presentation and demeanor


•Flexibility to work outside of a standard forty (40) hour work week schedule, which may include evenings, nights, and weekends


•Ability to travel within Entergy New Orleans territory


EDUCATION REQUIRED


•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience. Master’s degree is a plus


TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED


•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite


•Experience using CRM


ADDITIONAL SKILLS DESIRED


•Prior experience working with manufacturers, distributors, or installers of energy efficient equipment, including lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, motor drives, or compressed air systems in either technical sales or field support role.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT


This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, smart phones, office phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position requires the individual to operate a vehicle in order to travel to events and customer locations.
