About Arthur Roger Gallery:
The Arthur Roger Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in New Orleans, Louisiana. Founded in 1978 by Arthur Roger, it has since become one of the most respected galleries in the city and the region. The gallery represents a diverse range of contemporary artists working in various media, including painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media.
The Arthur Roger Gallery is known for its commitment to showcasing cutting-edge and challenging contemporary art and for its role in promoting the New Orleans art scene. The gallery has a spacious and modern exhibition space in the city's Warehouse District and participates in major national and international art fairs.
The Arthur Roger Gallery has a long track record of showing marginalized communities. Since its inception, it has celebrated the work of people of color and LGBTQ+ artists. The gallery is a major cultural institution in New Orleans and a significant player in the contemporary art world.
Internship Overview:
We seek a creative and enthusiastic Art Marketing Intern to join our team for Summer 2025. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of art marketing, from social media management and content creation to event planning and public relations. The intern will work closely with the Marketing and Sales Director to develop and implement marketing strategies, primarily focusing on social media and community outreach. This is a rare opportunity to learn about the workings of an art gallery.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging social media content across Instagram, Facebook, and others.
- Create visually appealing graphics and short videos for social media promotion.
- Assist in writing and distributing press releases and email newsletters.
- Assist in email marketing strategy and creation
- Record and edit video assets to promote the artists, exhibitions, and work.
- Help staff gallery events, including opening receptions and artist talks.
- Track and analyze social media performance and website traffic.
- Assist with website updates and content management (WordPress).
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong passion for contemporary art.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in using Instagram and Facebook.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Preferred:
- Experience with graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Experience with email marketing (Mailchimp).
- Photography and video editing skills (Audition, Premiere, Final Cut).
- Experience with CMS (WordPress)
Internship Details:
- Duration: Flexible
- Hours: 10-20 hours per week (flexible)
- Location: 432 Julia St, New Orleans, LA 70130
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship, but we are happy to work with your university to arrange academic credit.
