Job Description
About Glassroots
As the partner nonprofit of Glass Half Full, Glassroots reimagines glass waste as a community & environmental asset. Glassroots provides free glass recycling services, promotes environmental education and stewardship among all ages, and works alongside partners to implement coastal restoration, green infrastructure, and disaster preparedness projects using recycled glass sand and gravel in Greater New Orleans & Southeast Louisiana.
About the Position
Glassroots is a growing team with one full-time staff member, four AmeriCorps VISTAs, and five Board of Directors members. We are seeking an Administrative Coordinator to support the Program Director in managing administrative tasks for our growing organization. The ideal candidate is highly motivated by grassroots environmental and community work and is comfortable with varied responsibilities.
Schedule: 25-30 hours per week
Compensation: $18-25/hr
Benefits: Flexible and hybrid schedule, growth potential
Estimated Start Date: June 2025
Responsibilities
- Assist the Program Director in managing many aspects of Glassroots’ daily operations, including, but not limited to: bookkeeping, reporting, fundraising, public relations, AmeriCorps VISTA project management & supervision, and in-person activities.
- Help track Glassroots’ budgets, grant expenditures, and reporting requirements to ensure all deadlines and objectives are met.
- Support Glassroots’ fundraising activities including grant applications, donor outreach, and annual fundraisers (e.g., GiveNOLA Day, annual Glass Gala).
- Help maintain an effective online presence for Glassroots, including website, social media accounts, and newsletters. Co-create marketing content, templates, and merchandise which effectively leverage Glassroots’ brand.
- Assist the Program Director with managing Glassroots’ Americorps VISTA project and supervising VISTA members. Help resolve any tensions between internal stakeholders.
- Participate in in-person activities (drop-off management, volunteer groups, events) as needed.
- Compile detailed status updates to share with the Glassroots board and other stakeholders.
Required Skills and Experience
- 1+ years of administrative or operations experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Values reciprocity, collaboration, and quality in all areas of work
- Proficient in Google Workspace
- Reliable form of transportation
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in varied conditions (hot, cold, dusty, windy, etc.)
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- 1+ years of experience with nonprofit operations (familiarity with NOLA environmental nonprofit space is a plus)
- Comfortable working in a small, growing organization
- Knowledge of local environmental challenges
- Familiarity with QuickBooks Online, Squarespace, Canva, or similar softwares
- Experience with setting up and maintaining donor management systems
