Job Description

**School location to be assigned**

Responsibilities:

Provide support to the food service program and activities at an assigned location with specific responsibilities for production and serving food items to students and/or school personnel including but not limited to: 

  • Develop and implement schedules (e.g. production, cleaning, etc) for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective kitchen operations
  • Inspect food items and/or supplies for the purpose of verifying quantity, quality and specifications of orders and/or complying with mandated health standards
  • Maintain equipment, storage, food preparation and serving areas in a sanitary condition for the purpose of complying with current health standards
  • Perform functions of other nutritional service positions as requested by cafeteria manager for the purpose of ensuring adequate staff coverage within site nutritional services operations
  • Prepare and serves the appropriate number of food and beverage items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/equivalent, or the ability to obtain diploma/equivalent within 12 months of employment
  • Completion of Phase 2 of the LA Certification for Cafeteria Manager Training Program preferred
  • Basic math skills to exchange currency and extend recipes
  • Ability to write, read and follow written instructions, schedules, recipes, and warnings
  • Knowledge of kitchen operations and proper food safety handling
  • Ability to learn computer application programs
  • Possess effective supervisory skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Various sites may require the use of driving a district vehicle; therefore, a driver's license is required
