Job Description
$18 per hour
TIME FRAME: TEMPORARY
April 24 to May 4, 2025
EVENT DAYS ONLY + Orientation Meeting
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Security Manager, implement the Festival Gate Security procedures to ensure a safe and secure festival for patrons and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise and manage private security operations at public and personnel gates, as well as other security entry-points, under the guidance of the Security Manager.
- Continuously assess and adjust security measures as needed, including reviewing and refining training procedures for contract security personnel, such as bag checkers and MAG operators. Conduct daily briefings for Gate personnel.
- Serve as the primary point of contact at assigned gates to address technical issues and patron inquiries. Conduct secondary searches as required.
- Monitor staffing levels at designated gates, offering recommendations for redeployment and breaks. Assist in briefing gate personnel on entrance policies, including the use of walk-through magnetometers, bag checks, and secondary searches.
- Act as a liaison between contract security, festival staff, and law enforcement during emergencies, severe weather incidents, evacuations, early closures, etc. Coordinate gate set-ups and staffing adjustments as necessary to manage egress effectively.
- Provide assistance to ushers in Blues/Jazz/Gospel events as needed, particularly in aisle clearing and crowd control during performances by large acts.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.
- Must attend and complete any required training.
- Any document, computer program, design or other intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival belongs to the Jazz Festival and must be given to the Festival through your supervisor or department head at the end of each production year, or upon request.
- Must complete all required Feedback Forms and Final reports
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Demonstrated experience in overseeing security procedures, including bag checking and Walk-thru MAG operations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, essential for effectively managing a diverse and sizable staff.
- Proficient troubleshooting abilities with a proven track record of swiftly and effectively resolving issues, particularly in high-pressure emergency situations.
