Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Programs Coordinator will work with the Director of Entrepreneurship and Director of Community Development to play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of initiatives that support entrepreneurs in starting, growing, and sustaining their businesses. This position will focus on three core program areas:
- Inclusive Procurement: Connecting entrepreneurs to anchor institution and government contract opportunities.
- Early Childhood Education (ECE): Coordinating resources to support entrepreneurs in launching and scaling high-quality childcare businesses.
- Impact Accelerator: Providing mentorship, training, and resources to help entrepreneurs accelerate business growth.
The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in project managing initiatives, is highly organized, and passionate about fostering economic equity. They will work closely with program participants, local stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure successful execution and measurable impact.
This is a salaried and exempt position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & OUTCOMES
Programs & Services
- Assist in the design, planning, and execution of program strategies that align with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Develop and coordinate workshops, training sessions, and networking events for entrepreneurs.
- Coordinates timelines, tasks, and responsibilities to ensure projects meet deadlines and budgets.
- Support on the execution of logistics including, but not limited to, scheduling meetings, video conference setup, vendor coordination, catering coordination, and audio/visual equipment setup as needed
- Support the development of curriculum and resources tailored to the needs of New Orleanian entrepreneurs.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs and community stakeholders.
- Serve as a point of contact for program participants, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and connections.
- Manage program experience of assigned ventures and work closely with their assigned subject matter expert consultants to track business development progress and deliver relevant resources to ensure stated goals are met
- Support in the development of partnerships with anchor institutions, government agencies, and mission-aligned organizations to expand business development opportunities for entrepreneurs, including managing logistics, developing meeting materials, and tracking partnership development.
- Connect entrepreneurs to procurement opportunities, funding sources, and business development resources.
Impact Measurement & Reporting
- Track and analyze program performance metrics, including business growth, contract acquisition, and job creation.
- Collect feedback from program participants and partners to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Support in gathering testimonials of current and past program participants.
- Support in the preparation of grant reporting, funding proposals, and presentations to showcase program impact to funders and stakeholders.
Operational & Administrative Support
- Maintain organized records of program participants, activities, and outcomes.
- Oversight of consultant contracts to ensure accuracy in billable hours, scope of work, and payment
- Serves as timely and professional liaison and formal point of contact for interdepartmental needs/requests (comms, dev, bus/ops, etc.)
- Support grant reporting and funding proposals by providing relevant data and program insights.
Travel with some evening and weekend work required.
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES
- Personal qualities of emotional intelligence and maturity, humility, and unwavering commitment to Propeller’s mission.
- Written and verbal familiarity in the history of structural racism in the US and its current manifestations in New Orleans and nationally, particularly in the area of business development. Fluency in this area is highly desired.
- Project management skills, with demonstrated experience stewarding projects from inception to completion.
- Strong writing and meeting facilitation skills.
- Builds trust and credibility in relationships by demonstrating consistency between words and actions.
- Self-motivated, innovative, and works with considerable independence within the context of an overall strategy and collaborative team.
- Attention to detail and demonstrated success with budgeting, scheduling, managing multiple projects and deadlines, and establishing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, personable demeanor, and ability to collaborate and work cross-departmentally internally.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or equivalent knowledge + 3-5 years’ experience, or Master’s or equivalent knowledge + 1-3 years’ experience.
- Experience working alongside prominent New Orleans communities of color (Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Vietnamese-American, and others)
