Job Description
Trinity Episcopal School in New Orleans, Louisiana, is seeking a dedicated and skilled mathematics educator to serve as a temporary parental leave replacement from mid-August through September 29, 2025. The ideal candidate will be passionate about mathematics education and committed to fostering our students' intellectual, spiritual, moral, and physical development within a creative and nurturing learning environment.
Position Overview
The mathematics teacher will be responsible for teaching four sections of mathematics to students in grades 5-8, including one section of Pre-Algebra. This temporary position includes participation in pre-year training in mid-August and extends through September 29, 2025.
Essential Responsibilities
- Implement engaging and developmentally appropriate mathematics lessons for middle school students
- Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work and assessments
- Provide supervision during reasonably-assigned duties, like lunch and recess
- Maintain clear communication with parents regarding student progress
- Collaborate with grade-level and department colleagues
- Participate actively in faculty meetings and school community events
- Support Trinity's mission to develop confident and resilient upstanders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field; advanced degree preferred
- Experience teaching middle school mathematics
- Comprehensive knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods
- Ability to foster collegial relationships and collaborate effectively
- Strong communication skills and commitment to parent partnerships
- Passion for working with middle school students
