Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Wine and Spirits Store Manager
Reports To: Jane Cooper, Owner
Position Summary:
The Manager is responsible for managing the daily wine and spirits operations for Grande Krewe Fine Wine & Spirits. He/she will work within the goals set with the partners to grow the business as well as make recommendations on how to improve the business and customer experience. Responsibilities also include management of part time employees.
Principal Accountabilities:
A. Inventory
a. Manage all ordering of wine and spirits to meet the needs of our customers
b. Order special requests for customers and ensure that all customer orders are filled according to their expectations
c. Enter or manage entry of inventory into lightspeed and invoices into our bookkeeping system
d. Track sales by category and use that information to identify sales opportunities with wholesalers and improve margins
e. Ensure that all wines are labeled and in e commerce
f. Organize excess inventory
g. Order and manage wine club wines and members
B. Events
a. Work with Krewe to plan events and prepare for them, prepare recaps after the events
b. Schedule Thirsty Thursdays and coordinate other wholesaler events
c. Promote events through social media, flyers and word of mouth
C. The Store and the Customers
a. Achieve sales and margin goals, work with Jane to analyze results
b. Maintain a clean store
c. Become familiar with the customers, make recommendations and build their loyalty and trust
d. Develop relationships with purveyors
D. Marketing
a. Participate in social medial to promote Grande Krewe
b. Promote store events in the community
E. Be creative and fun to work with and make the store a great place to be.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of successful hospitality and sales experience in New Orleans. Prior knowledge of the wine and spirits industry and a demonstrated passion for wine and love of drinking wine. Familiarity with bookkeeping software and excel as well as general business knowledge.
Skills: Superior problem-solving ability and tenaciousness, reliability, excellent interpersonal and sales skills. Must be able to prioritize tasks and be accountable to follow-up on with minimal supervision. Must be able to demonstrate superior verbal communication skills and take responsibility for presentations in a variety of settings and be interested in running a business.
Compensation: Salary plus inventive pay commensurate with industry, insurance stipend and paid time off.
