The Behavioral Health Community Services (BHCS) division of Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority (JPHSA) provides treatment and support in the community where people work and live. Our social workers provide community-based care with home offices housed in the greater New Orleans area in Elmwood, LA. If you support increasing access to healthcare and important community services, you’ll love JPHSA’s mission. JPHSA helps individuals and families in Jefferson Parish affected by mental illness, addictive disorders, and developmental disabilities to live full, healthy, independent and productive lives.

Responsibilities

• Provides in-home and community-based therapy
• Offers mental health assessments, treatment planning, and family counseling
• Works as a member of a team that includes evidence-based consultants
• Focuses on improving family functioning by using evidence-based model, ingenuity, and strong engagement skills
• Develops and maintain positive relationships with individuals served, external stakeholders (e.g. juvenile courts and schools), community partners, and outside agencies
• Attends continuing education opportunities and maintains professional licensing
• Develops a working knowledge of community resources for referrals
• Maintains compliance with ethical standards and HIPAA regulations
• Participates in treatment team staffing, supervision, and other team meetings
• Demonstrates willingness and ability to work and travel in the community and outside of the typical 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. workday, including evening hours and occasional weekends

Qualifications & Skills

• Master’s degree in social work
• LMSW, LCSW, or CSW licensure (No RSW)
• High ethical standards and personal integrity
• Familiarity with principles of trauma-informed care
• Experience with EHRs
• Ability to implement effective systems to keep tasks on track and meet deadlines
• Positive, proactive, and solution-focused
• Adaptable communication skills and ability to interact effectively at different levels with different audiences
• Cultural competence and ability to treat all with dignity and respect
