Job Description
Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic- 1
Location: New Orleans, LA
Duration: Long Term Contract
SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Mechanic performs a variety of tasks under close guidance of higher-level trades personnel and is responsible for assisting in all phases of routine and preventative building maintenance, equipment, repairing, and remodeling of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (MCCNO). This individual shall ensure that the shop is maintained in a clean, safe manner at all times.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of all work orders and/or instructions provided by the Foreman or Maintenance Mechanic 55%
• Keep the shop in a clean and safe condition by taking out the trash, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning on a daily basis; organize tools and store materials properly.
• Assist all skilled craft personnel in the Facility Management Division with the completion of all routine,
· corrective, preventative maintenance, and servicing assignments relating to HVAC, Kitchen/Refrigeration, Electrical Maintenance, and Physical Plant as directed.
• Assist as necessary in obtaining and returning needed tools and material for projects.
• Comply with established inventory, equipment distribution, equipment operation and maintenance
· procedures to ensure efficient, effective and safe operation of the department. 25%
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of all inventory and equipment.
• Operate lifts, electric pallet jacks and power tools in an effective and safe manner.
Notify the Foreman or Maintenance Mechanic of equipment and facilities requiring repair or replacement to ensure a safe and effective workplace. 10%
Assist vendors and contractors as required in completing their contractual obligations in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. 10%
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree or High school diploma / general education (GED);
• Technical school background or apprenticeship program preferred.
• Certifications Preferred
EXPERIENCE
Five Years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Mathematical Skills
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
• fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Reasoning Ability
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Familiarity with use of basic hand tools.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Ability to complete job duties independently with minimal supervision. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
