Job Description


Job Title: Lead Teacher

Reports to: Director of Elementary School

Start Date: July 1, 2025

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Implementing and fostering a joyful classroom environment and encouraging all learners in a child-centered approach.
  • Creating and implementing authentic Arts-Integrated instruction and Project-Based Learning practices in an academically rigorous setting.
  • Teaching the whole child, including social/emotional learning, with a focus on logical and restorative approaches to problem solving.
  • Providing thoughtful differentiated instruction to each student.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with parents and families through open, consistent, and positive communication.
  • Creating and/or maintaining appropriate records and assessments.
  • Developing and implementing appropriate intervention strategies in collaboration with student support staff.
  • Maintaining professional competence through participation in professional development opportunities.
  • Consistently collaborating with team members.
  • Participating in school-sponsored community events.
  • Leading classroom assistants, student teachers, and/or volunteers in addressing the needs of students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Education or related field.
  • Certification in area of instruction.
  • Commitment to progressive education practices.
  • Experience in a classroom setting.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a lead teacher in New Orleans.
  • Background in the Arts.
  • Diverse life and work experiences.
  • Demonstrated success working in urban settings.
