Job Description
Tales of the Cocktail Foundation is looking for a reliable and creative Marketing Intern with digital marketing experience who is interested in diving into the world of marketing in the nonprofit sector. TOTCF’s Marketing Intern will assist our Marketing team in creating, posting, and analyzing social media and web-based content to promote Tales of the Cocktail Foundation, our events, brand content, and educational materials. They will also assist in research for various projects to help tell the Foundation’s story, competitive event analysis, and verify KPIs.
The Marketing Intern will walk away with a more profound knowledge of the day-to-day planning and overall concept of marketing and how ideas become KPIs for clients. TOTCF is a fast-paced and creative work environment, and we hope to find a meticulous and passionate intern to join our team.
Position Availability
- January - Mid July 2025: 15-20 hours/week | Virtual
- Tales of the Cocktail, July 15-25, 2025: Full-time | In person
- August 4 - 22, 2025: 10-15 hours/week | Virtual
Compensation:
- Internship pay rates start at $10/hour for January through mid-July 205
- Pay Rate increase to $15/ hour offered during the week of Tales of the Cocktail 2025 (July 21-27)

Essential Core Position Functions & Responsibilities:
- Assist with content on social media platforms
- Assists with content research and planning year-round
- Review the social media content calendar for copy edits or suggestions
- Stay up to date on best practices and emerging trends in social media
- Assist with copywriting and content development for web pages and blogs on www.talesofthecocktail.org
- Assist with creating media kits for campaigns, including writing media kit text and organizing folders
- Assist with photo library organization
- Assist with newsletter strategy, planning, and creation
- Organize media mentions in a Public Relations tracker
- Add input on marketing campaigns and strategy
- Assist with audience engagement by answering emails to the general Tales of the Cocktail Foundation email address and answering direct messages on social media
- Assist with graphic design asset edits in Canva and InDesign
- Market Research could be added as a separate responsibility. (Researching foundation competition, demographics etc.)
- Support the Marketing department with administrative work, planning, scheduling, and note-taking in departmental and/or client and stakeholder meetings
- Assist in additional marketing tasks when requested
- Other duties as assigned
- Tales of the Cocktail Event Duties
- Assist with content (photo & video) capture and editing during Tales of the Cocktail using your own equipment
- Monitoring attendee engagement on ticketing/conference app
- Counting in and out merchandise
- Organizing signage
- Updating signage around the host hotel
- Assisting other departments as needed
Requirements
- Be located in New Orleans, LA, for the week of Tales of the Cocktail and part of the week prior (July 16-27) - housing is not provided or reimbursed by TOTCF
- Be available for a 1-hour Zoom meeting on Monday or Tuesday (date and time to be agreed upon) for a Marketing Team call
- Have basic photography and graphic design experience
- Have an understanding of emerging social media trends
- Have a new generation (14 or newer) iPhone or Android phone with a camera suitable for content capture during the week of Tales of the Cocktail
- Have access to a computer to use design software and access documents from the shared google drive
- Bonus: Experience editing videos for TikTok or Instagram Reels (please include links or PDFs to creations in application, if applicable)
- Bonus: Experience with Canva and InDesign (please include links or PDFs to creations in application, if applicable)

Work Authorization
