RETAIL SALES ASSOCIATE (Part-Time)

JOB OVERVIEW:

Seeking a dynamic Retail Sales Associate to join Grande Krewe Fine Wine & Spirits in the heart of historic Faubourg Marigny! We are a small, locally-owned, woman and Black-operated business with a modest staff.

The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service, a basic understanding of wine and spirits, with an enthusiasm to expand their knowledge. Retail Sales Associates are expected to provide an exceptional shopping experience for our customers and to tailor suggestions based on customer requests. Retail Sales Associates report to the Store Manager and are occasionally the only staff member on premise.

COMPENSATION:

• $18/hr base pay
• Up to $20/hr commensurate with industry experience

HOURS:

• Shop Hours: Mon-Sat. 12-8PM, Sunday 12-5PM
• Seeking to fill Saturday shift (priority)
• Can supplement additional hours Tues, Thurs, or Fri.
• Looking to expand store holiday hours (open 10AM) late Oct. thru Dec.
• Flexible on hours per week and shift days, all interested candidates should apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greet customers and assist them in making purchases.
• Offer wine and spirit recommendations, knowledge, and expertise.
• Operate cash register and handle financial transactions accurately. (Lightspeed)
• Sign for deliveries and enter inventory accurately. (Lightspeed)
• Assist with restocking shelves.
• Ensure products are attractively displayed.
• Assist in general maintenance projects such as printing labels, taking photographs, and creating signage.
• Update customer data in POS system.
• Answer customer inquiries over the phone.
• Assist in setup and break down of tables, signage, and glassware for in-store events.
• Open/Close the store, as required by schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Wine & Spirits knowledge! Either professional certification, exp. in restaurant/bar service, or intermediate to advanced personal interest. Must be confident making informed recommendations to customers.
• Previous experience with Lightspeed or similar POS system (e.g. Square).
• Strong Customer Service skills.
• Must have a professional and courteous demeanor.
• Must possess or immediately apply for a LA Responsible Vendor Bar Card.
• Proof of COVID vaccination.

ACCESSIBILITY:

• This job requires lifting and moving boxes of wine/spirits up to 30 lbs.
• Associate may sit or stand behind check-out counter in between assisting customers.

• This role requires use of a touchscreen POS.
