Job Description

Under general supervision of the Associate Dean of Practice, the Practice Coordinator will assist practice faculty in community outreach and engagement activities for the School of Public Health. The incumbent will assist in public -facing community outreach efforts such as identifying partners and needs, assembling volunteers, planning events, and assembling a Community Health Advisory Board. The Practice Coordinator will also assist with preparation of accreditation materials, reports, and dissemination of accreditation progress to faculty and staff via a monthly newsletter. The incumbent will support the practice office with management of student success by tracking various student data, performance metrics, awards, and events.

Duties and Responsibilities


Assist with developing opportunities for community outreach and engagement including identifying partners and needs, assembling volunteers, and coordinating events. Disseminate opportunities to faculty, staff, and students. Assist with organizing the Community Advisory Board. Provide the community with training and resources to foster skills in autonomous community advocacy and leadership. Coordinate School Community Engagement Committee. Develop and maintain system to respond to direct public queries and connect faculty and staff to community when appropriate.


Assist with preparation of accreditation and other reports including collection of data, entry of data, compilation of data, and report writing. Track metrics and provide statistical data to SPH and LSUHSC administration as requested to support ongoing strategic planning goals. Assist with development of tracking mechanisms to ensure data integrity. Assist with creating, preparing, and disseminating the Path to Accreditation monthly newsletter. Reinstating would mean that this task is done once and isn’t an ongoing responsible. From the summary it appears the individual will contribute to the newsletter on an ongoing basis.


Organize Practice Experience Orientation dates each semester; assist students with understanding course prerequisite requirements including courses and compliance, assist students with required forms, and answer questions. Assist in checking course prerequisites for individual students. · Advise students when prerequisites are lacking. Assist with awards related to the Office of Practice and Community Engagement including nominations and selection. Assist with annual honors day poster session including receipt of abstracts, voting, and arrangements day of.


Assist with tracking of student progress and student data in courses including receipt of assignments, providing feedback, and grading.
