Job Description

The School of Public Health at LSUHSC seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented person to join our school as a Grants Specialist. In this role, this person will provide comprehensive support to our faculty/principal investigators and co-investigators in preparing their research projects and submitting grant applications. This person will play a critical role in facilitating the success of research projects and ensuring compliance with funding requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Grant Application Support:

1. Work with Faculty/Investigators to prepare grant applications, including budget development, budget justification, and other administrative components such as the Statement of Work, Consortium letters, Biosketches, Other support, etc.

2. Coordinate the submission process, ensuring all documentation and requirements are met according to the funding agency guidelines and LSUHSC/ORS policies.

3. Review grant proposals for completeness and compliance with funding (FOA) requirements.

4. Help with IRB applications.

5. Help with grant application routing and submission.

Compliance and Reporting:

1. Ensure adherence to LSUHSC policies, sponsor regulations, and ethical standards throughout the research process.

2. Assist faculty/investigators in preparing and submitting progress reports and other documentation required by funding agencies (e.g., Just-in-Time documents).

3. Provide guidance to faculty/investigators on internal grant application procedures and compliance requirements.

4. Serve as a resource for faculty and staff regarding funding opportunities, policies, and procedures.

Communication:

1. Foster effective communication and collaboration among investigators, research teams, departmental administrators, and external partners.

2. Act as a liaison between investigators and various university departments, funding agencies, and other stakeholders.

3. Help disseminate information on training and funding opportunities to researchers.





    Minimum Qualifications

    - Required Education: Bachelor's

    - Discipline(s) Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Public Health or related discipline

    - 3 years of relevant experience required

    - A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for two years of professional level experience. A Bachelor’s degree in another discipline will be considered with an additional three years of relevant experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Preferred Education: Master's

    - Certifications/Licenses Preferred: Certified Research Administrator

    - Experience and knowledge of federal and non-federal research sponsors. Experience with electronic research grants administration systems.

Salary starts at $48,000 and may be negotiated to a higher amount dependent on applicant’s experience.
