Concert Assistant

 

 

Working Hours: TBD

Job Type: Part Time

Reports to: General Manager, Director of Operations, Artistic Director,

 

Preservation Hall was established in 1961 dedicated to protect, preserve, and perpetuate Traditional New Orleans-style Jazz.  Over 50 years later, Preservation Hall continues their mission on tour, through education/community outreach, and with nightly concerts at their historic venue in the French Quarter over 350 nights a year and for over 100,000 visitors per year.  Preservation Hall continues to:
 

• serve as a cultural, educational, and community resource

• honor the legendary artists that play and have played the Preservation Hall

• provide visitors to New Orleans with some of the best music the city has to offer

• provide a home base for artists, productions and cultural events.

• act as ambassadors of New Orleans music & culture to the world

 

Position Summary:

The Concert Assistant will report to and work closely with Management in a variety of capacities, with an emphasis on concert presentation, ticket sales, merchandising, and most importantly as host to both the Hall’s visitors as well as the esteemed performers that perform nightly.  This is a part time position with opportunity for growth. 
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 

• Provide visitors with an experience that will always be remembered and with the highest level of responsiveness

• Manage crowd control and fast paced traffic flow 

• Project an approachable, positive and professional image in personal appearance, manner, and demeanor

• Communicate with large groups of visitors

• Maintaining a working knowledge of Preservation Hall’s mission and current events

• Coordinate list management and seating arrangements

• Helping maintain a clean & sterile environment

 

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability, and/or competency required. • Minimum of 3 years of Hospitality and Event Management, preferably in a cultural or arts organization

• Excellent verbal communication skills

• Organizational skills, accuracy and precision in handling details

• Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment 

• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, Point of Sale software

• Flexibility to participate in evening/weekend events

• Theatre / Performing Arts Center experience a plus
