Job Description
ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Beertenders are the core of the brewery, and the first people that customers interact with and see when they arrive. Because of this, it is imperative that Beertenders welcome each guest, share the values and culture of Parleaux Beer Lab, and engage with guests in a positive, welcoming manner. Parleaux Beer Lab rotates beer amongst its 12 taps, so it is important that the Beertenders be motivated to learn about each beer and have the language to communicate different beers and beer qualities to a variety of customers.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcome each guest as if they are already a friend of the brewery; everyday we are open we will be hosting our friends and neighbors in a community setting and ensure they have a positive experience
- Continuously learn about craft beer and educate guests
- Collect payment (cash and credit cards) for sales and return accurate change
- Maintain an orderly and accurate till
- Check every guest’s ID to ensure legal drinking age
- Continuously clean, polish, organize glassware, bar stools, taps, etc.
- Keep a watchful eye for guests that may be or may be on the verge of being intoxicated
- Clean and maintain bathrooms, floors, walls, etc.
- Pour and serve beer and educate customers about beer in an approachable manner
- Open and Close taproom and complete list of related activities, per shift requirements
- Operate Point of Sale system - Square - according to best practices
- Maintain a safe, clean and attractive environment for guests and Team Members
- Maintain and implement policies and procedures as outlined
- Create a fun, productive work environment
§ Serve customers in a welcoming, friendly, and respectful fashion
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Must be 21 years old or older
- Maintain current, valid, LA Responsible Vendors Card (can complete upon hire)
- Passion for craft beer, its culture, and people
- Enjoy and promote a positive relationship with our guests and community
- Have effective oral communication skills
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- Be a Team Player
- Be able to work efficiently and quickly in a fast-moving environment
- Be able to stand for long periods of time and bend, stoop, and lift/carry 50 pounds
- Dress appropriately for every shift according to dress code
- Be on time, every time
- Strong understanding and appreciation of New Orleans, our Bywater neighborhood, the people who live here, and our visitors
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Extensive craft beer knowledge
- 1+ years previous Bartending experience in high volume settings
- Cash handling
- Point of Sale (POS) system knowledge
