Job Description
Salary
• $25.00 Hourly
• $28.75 Hourly (long term rate)
Work Duration
As needed
Responsibilities
Provide transportation services for students over scheduled routes and/or to and from special excursions, including but not limited to:
• Ensure safe operation of the vehicle and safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from the bus
• Advise students and passengers of appropriate behavior and reinforce guidelines to maintain safety
• Assess incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations and be able to recommend a resolution
• Inspect vehicles' interior and exterior to ensure safety, appearance and sanitation in accordance with federal, state and local laws and guidelines
• Prepare various reports to document activities, provide written reference, convey information and comply with guidelines
• Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders
Certification Requirements
• High school diploma, equivalent, or the ability to obtain diploma or equivalent within 12 months of employment
• Must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with school bus, passenger and no air brake restrictions upon hire
• Previous bus driving experience and experience working with children strongly preferred
• Ability to operate various school buses, wheelchair lifts and restraining equipment and two-way radio
• Three (3) years of accident free and violation-free driving record
• Must complete a CDL physical
• If applicant lacks these skills at date of hire, they must be acquired within 60 days of hire
