NO/LA Angel Network
The NO/LA Angel Network (NO/LAAN) is a 501(c) (6) not-for-profit network of accredited investors, primarily located in Louisiana, who work together to evaluate, fund and nurture early-stage entrepreneur-led start-up companies. Our members make individual decisions to invest in high growth businesses throughout the United States. Since its founding in 2014 NO/LAAN has grown into one of largest and most active angel investment organizations in North America. Its 140 Members have invested over $19M in 49 companies across 17 States.
Manager of Administrative Services
The Manager of Administrative Services is a part-time employee position of the NO/LA Angel Network.
The location of this position is New Orleans, Louisiana. The selected applicant will be able to choose to work remotely from home or utilize the network’s membership at a co-working space in downtown New Orleans. The hours of this position are flexible and dependent on varying weekly activity —an average of 15-20 hours per week. Work activity will occur mostly during the hours of 10am – 6pm CT, but NO/LAAN also convenes a Monthly Member Meetings once per month in the evening and on rare occasion other evening activities. The pay rate for this position is $30/hour.
The Manager of Administrative Services reports to the Chairman of the Board of the Network and to the Network’s Board of Directors and will be a co-worker and partner to a second network employee in charge of Investment Process Management.
General Position Description
The primary responsibilities of the Manager of Administrative Services position are:
· Maintaining the day-to-day operations of the network
· Supporting the activities of the Chairman and of NO/LAAN’s volunteer Board of Directors who chair various board committees, task forces and working groups
A high percentage of the responsibilities of this position involves administrative support, coordination logistics, and communication with current/future members of the network, as well as occasionally with the companies they consider and in which they invest. The Manager of Administrative Services serves in an ex officio capacity on all Board Committees and helps maintain communication and alignment between the various working groups & projects.
Summary of Responsibilities
1. Board Management (with Board Chairman)
a. Maintain documentation of official board activity & network files
b. Coordinate preparation of materials & slide deck for monthly meetings of the Board of Directors, conducted via Zoom
c. Create related slide-updates with input from Committee Chairs & Deal Flow Manager
d. Take minutes at Board of Director Meetings
e. Send reminders to Directors of all key General and Committee Meetings
2. Membership (with Membership Chair)
a. Manage and execute ongoing Member Communication,
i. general network inbox response
ii. calendar management
iii. website & email-blast updates and notifications
b. Supporting member recruitment and approval activities; organizing virtual & in-person events
c. In conjunction with Chairman coordinate and direct all facets of the monthly Member Meetings
d. Oversee and track the membership renewal process on a yearly basis & new member onboarding on an as-needed basis
e. Coordinate monthly Member Education Events, primarily through Zoom
f. Maintain and keep up-to-date various membership databases, email lists, and tracking documents
g. With a Committee of Board Members coordinate the Annual Investor Conference
3. Sponsorship (with Sponsorship Chair)
a. Support sponsor solicitation and approval activities
b. Schedule/coordinate meetings, calls, virtual meetings with prospective sponsors
c. Liaise and follow-up with sponsor prospects
d. Serve as point-of-contact for current sponsors
e. Maintain sponsor and sponsor prospect/pipeline tracking document and databases
4. Finance & Accounting (with Treasurer)
a. Manage NO/LAAN finances utilizing QuickBooks
b. Track and enter all receipts, send invoices, track receivables, etc.
c. Reconcile payments and receipts
d. Ensure accounts payable are addressed in a timely fashion
e. With the Treasurer prepare monthly financial reports for Board of Director meetings
5. Public Relations (with Marketing/Public Relations Chair)
a. Marketing Chair, coordinate and distribute NO/LAAN’s Quarterly Newsletter
b. Coordination of regular press releases and external marketing materials
c. Management & updating of NO/LAAN’s LinkedIn account
Minimum Qualifications
1) Dependable internet connectivity & personal computer
2) Work experience in managing projects with multiple decision makers or stakeholders
3) Knowledge of basic budgeting/accounting— ideally QuickBooks
4) Knowledge of Power Point, Word, and some Excel
5) High-level of competency with online environment & cloud-sharing services (e.g. Zoom, Google Drive, Dropbox, Airtable, Canva, etc.)
