Job Description
Cathedral Montessori School is an not for profit Montessori school, serving students ages 3-12. We believe in the transformative power of education and are dedicated to realizing each child’s potential through their joyful pursuit of knowledge. CMS is a diverse and welcoming community that fosters an inclusive environment, embracing and celebrating the cultures and experiences of one another. Cathedral Montessori School is seeking a candidate for a Primary Assistant Montessori Teacher. A CMS Montessori teacher is dedicated to the mission of the school, committed to the study of Montessori pedagogy, motivated to work collaboratively, committed to self- reflective practice and professional development, and understands that this a profession that requires additional time, commitment, and responsibilities outside of the regular school day. The Montessori assistant teacher will assist in a 3-6 environment, and be responsible to themselves, the children, and the team; to be self-motivated, self-directed, and able to manage time effectively while fulfilling obligations.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of Cathedral Montessori School.
● Supports and implements standards of LMA accreditation.
● Commits to professional growth as a Montessori Assistant Teacher and employee of Cathedral Montessori School.
● Complies with the policies and procedures as articulated by the school’s Faculty Handbook.
● Upholds professional standards of personal presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion.
● Supports the lead guides in maintaining a quality educational program following the Montessori philosophy
● Establishes a professional relationship with parents, maintaining open lines of communication regularly.
● Cultivates a growth mindset and be willing to be mentored by the Montessori classroom lead guide and director of the school.
● Supervises and guides children throughout the day, and assists in the implementation of daily program activities, supported by the direction of the lead guide.
● Maintains and prepares classroom environment, daily, to meet the needs of the children and their learning.
● Creates and prepares materials to meet the needs and interests of the children.
● Displays a loving and caring demeanor to implement positive discipline methods that align with the school’s high standards of caregiving.
● Helps students use the restroom and develop independence with personal hygiene (hand washing and bathroom usage). Diapering may be required.
● Attends and participates in school activities, including work week, faculty meetings, open houses, family picnic, parent-teacher conferences, professional development, and graduation ceremonies. outside of the usual school day.
● Establishes professional relationships with staff, working cooperatively to meet the needs of the children at all times.

Qualifications
o At least 2 years experience working with primary-age children in a classroom environment.
o Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, strongly preferred
o First Aid/CPR training or willing to obtain
