Earn a Master of Arts in Teaching from Xavier University.

Work alongside experienced teachers.

Attend classes and training sessions.

Build strong school community relationships.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (GPA 2.5+)

Praxis I & II (or exemptions)

Four-year commitment to teaching

Commitment to New Orleans students

Proven perseverance & professionalism

Strong time management & relationship-building skills

Background check & health clearance


Compensation: $25,000 stipend + covered first-year grad school tuition.

At NCFTR, our mission is to develop exceptional educators who want to make this work their career. We combine the proven methods of Xavier University of Louisiana’s Master’s Degree program with mentorship and on-the-job coaching to ensure our Residents are equipped to support students’ success in school and in life. 

Residents are selected through an intensive application process and matched to an elementary, middle, or high school based on their desires and schools’ needs. As pre-service teacher candidates, residents pursue a Master’s degree while receiving on-the-job development from a mentor teacher at their school.
