Job Description

Reporting to the Principal Investigator on a regular basis, the incumbent must be able to work with minimal direct supervision. The goal of the research project is to study the genetic and epigenetic effects of oncology patients due to chemotherapy. The employee will collaboration with local/regional hospitals and clinicians/oncologists, and will be responsible for the operation of the study, including collection of patient information and biological samples, coordination of blood draws with family members and doctor’s office, maintenance of progress notes on the participating families, cases and controls, maintenance of IRB protocols and other required documentation, communication with collaborators, and conducting research assays (e.g., DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, next generation sequencing, and bioinformatics analysis). The employee is required to have the professional skills necessary to process the data and the personal integrity necessary to safeguard the privacy of cancer patients by following HIPAA guidelines. In addition, they must have excellent written and verbal skills for communication with patients, all levels of medical and research staff, and teaching trainees of various educational levels (e.g., medical students, graduate students, residents, and fellows).


This is a 12 month temporary position.
