Job Description
JOB TITLE: Assistant Guest Experience Manager (AGEM)
REPORTS TO: Guest Experience Manager (GEM)
WHAT IS OUR COMPANY CULTURE?
Happy Raptor Distilling’s mission is to create premium rum inspired by our culture, our community, and the things that bring us joy. This is not a typical hospitality job. As a multifaceted distillery, we operate as a production and manufacturing facility, an events venue, a tour attraction, a community hub, a tasting room, a corporate office, and a brand. We are a startup in rapid growth with high standards and a minimal budget. We work hard (sometimes really hard in the summer heat), and things can change quickly. Most importantly, we’re growing fast by supporting and relying on one another, prioritizing our personal and mental health, and constantly checking in to ensure we each have the tools to meet expectations. WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS POSITION?
This position is essential to the success of Happy Raptor’s tasting room. As AGEM, this person ensures the smooth day-to-day operations of tours, tastings, and mixology operations in the tasting room. Success in this position looks like exceptional support for your colleagues - it is imperative that operations (inventory, cleanliness, dishes, bar supplies, etc) occur without significant hiccup to allow ample space for the raptor guides to focus on exceptional guest experiences and sales, the GEM to focus on tasting room and tour expansion initiatives, and the Events & Partnerships Manager to focus on the flawless execution of events and fundraisers. The AGEM is the glue that eliminates worry and creates space for creativity and fun on a daily basis.

WHAT ARE THE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES?
- Manage all inventory needs and complete necessary inventory runs throughout the week
- Demonstrate a knack for efficiency and cost-management when fulfilling supply and inventory needs
- Schedule raptor guides for tasting room shifts, under the supervision of the GEM
- Complete regular shifts in the tasting room, including regular tours and tastings
- Set up and reset the tasting room before and after on-site events, under the direction of the GEM and the Events & Partnerships Manager
- Act as Manager-On-Duty when the GEM is unavailable
- Assist the GEM to increase traffic to the tasting room and tour program
- Participate in the hiring and training process of raptor guides
- Present and assist with the regular execution of cocktail classes
- Assist with monitoring various tour platforms to ensure the tour schedule is accurate and up-to-date
- Work alongside the GEM to create new cocktails for seasonal and special event menus
- Update and assist in the management of the Square POS system
- Regularly communicate via Slack and update the shared Google calendars with essential information and updates, including changes to staffing
- Ensure a comprehensive knowledge of Happy Raptor Distilling’s products and services, including the approved language for describing those products
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures in place for the opening, operating, and closing of the tasting room, and ensure compliance from the team in partnership with the GEM
- Understand and be able to provide information to the team and guests on the mission of local nonprofit organizations and/or fundraisers happening in the tasting room
- Follow all state and local laws regarding serving alcoholic beverages for both on and off premise consumption
- Ensure regular cleanliness and tidiness of the tasting room, including the upkeep of daily checklists and in adherence to all requirements of the Louisiana Department of Health
- Assist the Events & Partnerships Manager with occasional decoration and setup of the tasting room for holidays and events

WHAT’S THE PAY?
This is an hourly position. Both part-time and full-time options are available, depending on the needs of the candidate. Pay starts out at an hourly rate of $12.50/hr plus tips and/or service fees that are equally shared between team members during their appointed shift.
ARE THERE BENEFITS?
Health insurance (standard and short-term disability) is available, although not subsidized by the company (yet - it’s a one-day goal). Very flexible schedule. PTO and paid bereavement leave available for all employees. Company-supported continuing development opportunities.
