Salary:

  • $54,119-$74,519 (Bachelor's/Certified)
  • $54,971-$75,360 (Master's/Certified)

Work Duration: 

  • Nine (9) months
  • 183 Days
  • 7.5 hours per day

Responsibilities:

Plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, including but not limited to:

  • Setting rigorous yet appropriate learning outcomes
  • Establish supportive relationships with students
  • Engage students in meaningful, developmentally appropriate, real world discussions and learning activities
  • Develop authentic and aligned assessments to measure student growth and inform instructional decisions, especially pertaining to students with special needs
  • Develop plans (I.E.Ps, behavior plans, service plans etc… ) that are data based and support the growth and development of students
  • Collaboratively work with team members to fulfill the mission, vision and beliefs of both the school and the district

Certification / Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Art or Science degree
  • Louisiana teaching certificate with certification in mild moderate and/or significant disabilities
  • Type A, B or C - or - Level 1, 2 or 3
  • Experience in creating and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Knowledge in the area of instructional methodologies for students with disabilities and Bulletins 1706 / 1508
  • Previous experience in assuming leadership roles at the school and district level PREFERRED
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders

All special education teachers new to their role OR to St. Charles Parish Public Schools are provided with extensive and comprehensive support to foster success and growth, including but not limited to:

  • Professional growth opportunities for upward mobility and career advancement
  • Participation in New Teacher Orientation professional development sessions
  • Participation in yearly special education update sessions at the district, state or national level
  • Assignment of a school based mentor for multi-year support, coaching and orientation
  • Support from the Administrative team, Special Education department and Instructional Facilitator of Special Education
  • Support from district Instructional Technology and Curriculum leaders
