Job Description
Position Title: Director of Marketing
Status: Full time, Exempt
Location: Avondale, LA
Position Summary: The Director of Marketing leads marketing, communications and public relations for HOST. This role will have a breadth of experience in all areas of marketing and will have both a creative and analytical mindset. The role will be charged with building and improving HOST’s messaging and market positioning. The ideal candidate must understand the overall business objectives at HOST and translate them into marketing and communications plans to support it.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Marketing & Sales Support
- Build the HOST brand and recognition of its services across multiple messaging platforms and deliver demonstrable branding, marketing and public affairs results
- Work closely with senior leadership, as well as commercial team, to set out marketing plans and focus messaging on priority audiences and topics
- Lead and execute marketing projects, such as, but not limited to campaigns, trade shows/events and public relations outreach
- Manage marketing vendors
- Social media presence and engagement
- Vision for content (2 posts per week min)
- Content creation
- Posts, shares, blog entries
- Ongoing maintenance of core branding package including stock material and website
- HOST toolbox
- Brand guidelines
- Slide templates
- Website updates
- Search Engine Optimization
- Creation of content as dictated by sales efforts
- Flyers
- Pitch decks
- Management of company digital asset management system (DAM)
- Smart catalog of all photos, decks, artwork, video footage
- Procurement of photography / videography
- Industry Association Memberships roster
- Update with turnover, new hires
- Coordinate information in directories to be updated including advertisements
- Industry event attendance and sponsorships
- Maintain and update directory of annual and one-time events, ensuring appropriate attendance and sponsorship
- Event coordination including invitations for all HOST sponsored events
- Management of company store and branded materials
- Maintain relevant options for customers and employees
- Facilitate manager codes, anniversary codes
- Manage online store
- Vendor relationship
Communications & Public Relations
- Review and approve marketing and communications content, such as press releases, marketing collateral, newsletters, social media posts, website edits, etc.
- Manage media inquiries and works with contacts in the media to create positive coverage
- Production of company newsletter and state of the company updates
- Execution of press releases
- Participation in commercial, industry and community events
Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of marketing, communications and public relations, especially in maritime and shipping industries.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and priorities work.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Knowledge of business and management principles.
- Computer skills and knowledge of office software packages.
