Job Description

Salary:

  • Certified Masters + 30 $96,741
  • Certified $92,837 
  • Non-certified $91,097

Work Duration

  • 12 Month
  • 240 Days

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, implement and monitor an appropriate instructional program and services to support students and instructors in Special Education programs throughout the District
  • Provide leadership in establishing new programs in Special Education including technology and effective practices as well as developing improved understanding of existing programs
  • Remain current with federal and state regulations by attending requisite meetings and reviewing pertinent documents, and disseminates information on current practices and procedures related to Special Education in schools
  • Determines staffing needs and recommends personnel assignments, including resources to support principals, schools and students
  • Develops budget recommendations and provides expenditure control on established budgets for Special Education, including the review and signing of purchase orders for federal, state and local funds, professional meeting requests and travel reimbursement forms
  • Conducts informal and formal observations of teachers, upon the request of the principal

Certification Requirements:

  • Louisiana certification (Provisional Principal, Principal, or Educational Leadership) or a letter from the Louisiana State Department of Education indicating eligibility to receive Educational Leadership once employed in an Administrative position -OR-
  • Educational Leader in Special Education Ancillary Certificate -OR-
  • Parish or City School Supervisor/Director of Special Education
  • Five (5) years teaching experience; three (3) of which must be in special education teaching
  • Leadership experience PREFERRED
