We are Happy Raptor Distilling - one of the newest rum distilleries in New Orleans. (Recently named the best distillery in Gambit’s Best of New Orleans!) Our mission is to create premium handcrafted rum inspired by our culture, our community, and the things that bring us joy.

What’s our company culture? We pride ourselves on our inclusivity and our community-first mission. We like to have fun around here and keep things pretty light. What should you know about this job? We have a very diverse role to fill, with lots of room for cross training and growth. Our ideal candidate will work as a bartender with interest in giving distillery tours and leading our guests through their tasting experience. This person requires a curiosity, a sense of humor, and a thirst for knowledge. We like to say that we have a bar, but we are not a bar. As a distillery, our primary goal is sharing the process and experience of making 504Rum. A commitment to community and an appreciation for rum (especially...ahem...504Rum) wouldn’t hurt either. 

What are our non-negotiables? Happy Raptor is a safe space for our staff and guests. We are mindful of respect, equity, and fair treatment - and we prioritize this work as a team everyday. As team members, we all have a responsibility to set and keep deadlines, treat all staff and guests with respect, show up on time and ready to go, over-communicate, remain available for calls and emails during working hours, and establish general trust and reliability.

Historically, distilling can be an exclusionary industry - Happy Raptor isn’t about that. We hire based on attitude over experience every time. We love to teach and we love learners. If you have an artistic background, comedy, or acting experience, that’s a plus. Experience with languages (ex: French, Spanish, Vietnamese) is a plus. The ideal candidate should have basic experience with Google Suite. Bartending or tour guide experience is a big plus, but not required.

What do we offer? Happy Raptor offers $10/hour plus tips for bartenders and tour guides. Paid time off, bereavement, and volunteer hours are available for full and part-time employees. Training hours are paid. A 90-day trial period will apply.
