Job Description

The City of New Orleans VISTA program is implemented by the Office of Mayor LaToya Cantrell and the Information Technology and Innovation Office (ITI). The City is seeking passionate individuals to build capacity to break the cycle of poverty and empower our community. New Orleans is a welcoming city with a unique culture, natural outdoor spaces, and a reputation for hospitable and friendly residents.

The Digital Equity program was designed with the mission to improve Digital Equity services in the community through enhancing current digital equity projects as well as launching new programs to sustain a broad spectrum of projects including basic skills trainings, professional development and educational collaborations.

Our work in the Digital Equity space will help break the cycle of poverty by reaching the underserved communities, those who would not otherwise have access to a device or services and begin to address the barriers to digital equity.

As a VISTA member in ITI, you will be exposed to technical and educational project management, as well as data collection and analysis. You will also get hands on experience working with the Information Technology team.

This exposure will provide an opportunity to work with multiple departments to help leverage a collective digital space for both the City of New Orleans employees as well as its residents. This rewarding opportunity will assist in closing the digital divide by providing resources to the city’s most vulnerable residents.

If you are interested in serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA, please note the following:

AmeriCorps is a national service year requiring 12 months of service, full time work hours (M-F, 9-5, in-person) and flexible hours on occasion.

Team members must either be fully vaccinated or present a negative test every week to work at City Hall.

For their national service, members receive a bi-weekly living allowance of $575, reduction of education costs, health insurance, and enriching career experience. Upon completion of service, members will also receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $6,345 or an end-of-service cash stipend of up to $1,800.
