Job Description
Discovery Health Sciences Schools opened their doors in Jefferson Parish in 2013 as a K-12 health sciences focused charter school created to give families choice in public education. Discovery is now a growing Charter Management Organization serving over 2,900 public school students and their families in Jefferson Parish and entering Baton Rouge. Discovery prides itself on its excellent academic record and strong school culture.
Discovery Schools seeks a Director of Strategic Development to support government relations and school growth including our expansion to Baton Rouge. This position is responsible for project management and community relations with a focus on special projects, grant writing, contract auditing, organization optimization, and other project compliance. The Director of Strategic Development reports to the CEO & CFO and oversees Admissions and Development.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a major in business administration, public administration, urban planning, economics, market research, finance, or compliance. Juris Doctor (JD) Degree, MBA, Master’s Degree or other relevant graduate degree is preferred.
Professional program or management experience, ideally with increasing responsibility, in government or education strategic consulting, analysis, business management, project management, or other public sector fields. Project Management Institute certification would be an asset in this role.
