JOB DESCRIPTION 
FINANCIAL / DATA ANALYST


I BASIC FUNCTION
 

The role of the Analyst is to improve business decision making through the application of financial and statistical analysis. A successful candidate will have a strong interest in putting data to work solving business challenges and working directly with business users to implement insights. The work on this team is highly varied and requires a strong interest in data analysis, corporate finance, and business Intelligence. A typical project may begin with a question from a business user, like how to set pricing on a new piece of business, lead into working with in-house developers to gather relevant data, building out business intelligence dashboards to analyze the data, and then using the insights gleaned as input into a financial model. Regular collaboration across all levels of company management will afford an opportunity to demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills.

 

 

II MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
 

· Apply problem solving framework to business challenges to identify underlying drivers of results. Utilize quantitative skillset to model decisions, work with business unit leaders to adjust business practice and measure results.

· Report KPIs to business owners & executive staff, providing timely updates on logistical operations using Tableau data visualization software.

· Work with CEO, CFO, Business Unit Leaders, and other Analysts to produce profitability metrics to support asset optimization. Evangelize the implementation of this analysis throughout the broader organization.

· Build functional models of logistical operations to support decision making

· Learn and refine CBC’s Tableau (data visualization), Alteryx (data wrangling), and SQL Server implementations. Identify & define data sets to support new or updated analysis.

· Produce Discounted Cash Flow models for acquisitions and other major capital decisions.

 

III Qualifications

Required:

· BA/BS or Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

· Strong written & verbal communication skills.

· Excellent computer skills and experience in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred:

·1-3 Years work experience in consulting, analytics, strategy, operations, banking, or FP&A.

· Experience with business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx), data querying (SQL), or statistical programming languages (Matlab, Python, R, STATA).

· Experience writing SQL queries and interacting with relational databases

· Experience with Operations Research or Discrete Event Modeling is a plus.
