Job Description
Looking for a career that sparks joy within- as well as beyond oneself?
Consider Piety and Desire Chocolate - the New Orleans bean-to-bar chocolaterie, where we're currently expanding operations and seeking the perfect fit for our kitchen staff. As such, this job will primarily be located at our production studio at 2727 South Broad St in New Orleans.
The ideal candidate would have experience working in chocolate production, although we're certainly willing and able to train the right candidate! Of course, kitchen experience and/or training in baking or patisserie would likely be great indicators of potential for a smooth transition onto our team, as well as the potential to grow along with us. Ideally, you'd be looking to work at least 30 hours a week while potentially being self-motivated to work more.
Initial Job Duties will include the following:
-manufacturing chocolate (sorting and roasting beans, winnowing, loading and unloading chocolate machinery, tasting lots of chocolate)
-manufacturing confections (bars, bonbons, ganaches, caramels, etc)
-baking (depending on experience)
-cleaning up after oneself and potentially others
-must be able to stand for a 6-8-hour shift and lift 50 pounds without hurting oneself
-must be an honest, descent, fun-loving human being who's able to work in a very sanitary manner in a very relaxed environment
Compensation will be competitive and based on the expertise and skills shared with us. We currently offer one week paid vacation, and we hope to grow our benefits program over the next year to include health insurance for full time employees.
