Job Description


Jefferson Parish is currently hiring for a GIS Operator I position located on the East Bank in the Department of Engineering.

Kind of Work

This position performs technical work involving the use of computers and peripheral equipment in performing maintenance, editing, additions, and plotting of engineering plans and/or graphics utilizing ACAD-LT software (computerized drafting).  Hard-copy produced as a result of same include engineering topographical drawings, plan and profile drawings, cross sections, cadastral or ownership maps, street or right of way maps, public or private utility maps, and miscellaneous graphics.  This position also currently utilizes Geo Media, which is in the process of being converted to ESRI Arc-GIS, to produce various GIS maps.  In addition, this position utilizes board drafting (both pen and ink and drafting pencil) to update existing engineering drawings and unit sheets.  Performs related work as required.

Minimum Requirements

Meets one of the following three options:

I. Possession of an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Geographic Information Science (GIS), Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), or a related field with at least fifteen (15) credit hours focusing on GIS or CADD.

OR

II. Successful completion of at least six (6) credit hours of coursework focusing on GIS or CADD at an accredited college or university; plus, at least six (6) months of paid work experience involving use of AutoCAD or ESRI-based GIS software.

OR

III. Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent certificate; plus, at least one (1) year of paid work experience involving use of AutoCAD or ESRI-based GIS software.



Salary



$31,586.00 Annually
