Jefferson Parish is currently hiring for a Telemetry Technician II - High Altitude position located on the East Bank in the Department of Engineering..

Kind of Work

The purpose of this position is to perform skilled, electrical, and instrumentation work in the installation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of components of the Parish Telemetry system. Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains SCADA Pack, DirectLogic, Bristol Babcock, Allen Bradley, Tesco, and other similar Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Installs, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains Flowline, Global Water, Endress Hauser, Milltronics, Met One, Precision Digital, and various other sensors, transmitters, valves, and switches. Installs and maintains electrical wiring, network cabling, data cabling, conduit of various types, antennas, antenna cable, antenna masts, solar panels, lightning arrestors, power supplies of different voltages, uninterruptable power supplies, batteries, surge suppressors, voltage converters, wireless local area networks, and ethernet radio transceivers. Installs, programs, and maintains high performance digital signal processing data transceivers; fabricate PLC control panels and weather stations. Troubleshooting communication issues involving wireless, ethernet, and microwave data transmission systems. Performs work from within a bucket truck that can reach up to 60 feet high. Performs related work as required. Will be required to be on call 365 days a year for emergency repairs. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or his designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record will be given preference.


Employees will be required to obtain a Louisiana Class B CDL prior to the completion of their probationary period.



Minimum Requirements

Applicants must possess a current Jefferson Parish Class A Electrical License; PLUS, must meet one (1) of the following requirements:



1. Permanent civil service status in the class of Telemetry Technician I and at least one (1) year of experience at the 'I' level.

OR

2. A minimum of three (3) years of experience performing industrial or commercial electrical construction work, with at least one (1) year of work experience at the journeyman level. Experience must include the maintenance, repair, calibration, and/or troubleshooting of industrial or plant equipment, 4-20 mA instrumentation, and high voltage electrical apparatuses or panels (operating from at least 480 volts). Plus, training or experience in the use of a computer with a Windows operating system and in the installation, use, maintenance, and/or troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).



Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.





Salary

$46,432.00 - $55,718.00
