Overview

Greater New Orleans, Inc. The Development Associate plays an essential support role in engaging GNO, Inc.’s investors and funders.  A successful Development Associate will have an aptitude for systems and creating streamlined processes, and at the same time will have the exemplary customer service skills necessary for fundraising and constituent engagement.  This role requires knowledge of basic fundraising or sales principles, exceptional organizational skills, and a high-level of attention to detail.  It is a multifaceted position for someone who wants to help support GNO, Inc.’s mission of a thriving economy and an excellent quality of life, for everyone.

In addition to the specific duties of the Development Associate detailed below, GNO, Inc. operates with a cross-functional mentality.  It is a job with both significant responsibility and reward, and is an opportunity to play an important role in the economic resurgence of a great American city.  The Development Associate reports to the Vice President of Advancement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop familiarity with GNO, Inc.’s investors and funders, and how their interests correlate to GNO, Inc.’s day-to-day work and long-term priorities
  • Maintain investor and investor prospect CRM (Salesforce) account records, entering meeting notes, contact information, and past and future actions/tasks
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Advancement and other GNO, Inc. staff members to cultivate the existing investor base in order to retain investors and deepen relationships
  • Support the Vice President of Advancement with expanding the GNO, Inc. investor base by identifying and engaging new prospective investors
  • Prepare background notes for investor and investor prospect meetings
  • Coordinate new investor administrative processes, ensuring proper donor recognition and email subscriptions
  • Collect and write content for GNO, Inc. investor communications, including monthly newsletters 
  • Maintain investor communications schedule and investor event calendar
  • Coordinate with GNO, Inc. communications staff to highlight relevant announcements from GNO, Inc. investors and funders on social media channels
  • Manage in-kind donation tracking and usage, including coordinating with various staff members to book travel and accommodations
  • Assist with the creation of content for one pagers, presentation decks, and proposals
  • Support GNO, Inc. activities, including special events like the Annual Meeting and Emerge Summit

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; substitute relevant work experience considered. 

Experience: 3+ years of full-time work experience preferred.

Skills, Background, and Capabilities:

The ideal candidate will possess many of these professional and personal abilities and attributes:

  • Familiarity and/or experience with CRM software is highly desirable  
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Capable of working well as part of a team as well as independently
  • Great multitasker, capable of simultaneously managing multiple projects with different deadlines
  • Intermediate to advanced-level knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint a plus
  • Strong written communications skills necessary 
  • Experience, confidence, independence, and self-starting with a strong sense of urgency
  • Love of Greater New Orleans!

Allowable Substitutions: A combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and skills for the position may be considered in lieu of education and/or experience at GNO, Inc.’s discretion.

Compensation commensurate with experience; generous benefits package available.
