About Us:

Son of a Saint exists to enhance the lives of fatherless boys through mentorship, emotional support, development of life skills, exposure to constructive experiences, and formation of positive, lasting peer-to-peer relationships. Son of a Saint equips boys with the tools they need to become productive men. We provide a secure and consistent environment for them, through which they find hope, vision, and opportunity. 


Position Summary:

Son of a Saint is looking for a part-time programming assistant to aid staff with programming events and day-to-day needs. 

Programming Support (45%)

  • Assists in the development of program evaluation tools, techniques, and methods.
  • Perform research and draft event plans, proposals, and other support documents for programming activities and initiatives
  • Assist with executing programming initiatives and events by confirming attendance, coordinating volunteers, and/or leading an activity
  • Support programming operations with transporting mentees as needed.
  • Supervise mentees during programming events and activities at the main campus and other locations in the New Orleans area


Administrative Support (45%)

  • Provide direct administrative support to the program manager and other programming staff such as preparing team meeting agendas, drafting correspondence, managing the programming email inbox, digital files, etc.
  • Prioritize tasks according to departmental needs; determines workflow problems and develop solutions.
  • Collect and analyze data for programming activities, needs assessments, and academic performance
  • Assist the activities coordinator in tracking attendance and participation of Son of a Saint mentees and mentors, ensuring that minimum attendance requirements are met
  • Maintain mentee and guardian records and consent forms for program compliance


Organization-Wide Responsibilities (10%):

  • Support programming, development, and organization-wide initiatives by actively engaging in the following opportunities:
  • Quarterly board meetings
  • Fundraising and development events, grants, and initiatives
  • Programming events, activities, and initiatives
  • Staff leadership development and team building
  • Recruitment, selection, and onboarding
  • Cross-functional special projects
  • Perform other agency and duties as assigned by the program manager

Education/Experience:

  • Experience working with youth preferred
  • Recent college graduate

Other Qualifications:

  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Experience working with youth
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and is able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism in an office work environment and on-site at each event
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus

  • Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to write by hand and use keyboard to perform general functions.
  • Ability to communicate by speech and hearing continuously.
  • Visual acuity (close, distant, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus and view accurate color perception) needed for detail work, and computer use.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Working Days/Hours:

The ideal candidate has a flexible work schedule. The working days will be predominantly weekdays with flexible weekends and evenings.

This position will be 20-30 hours/week. Open availability preferred.
