Prominent New Orleans defense law firm seeks a nurse paralegal to provide both medical and legal expertise in litigation, insurance defense, and medical malpractice claims.

Candidates are required:

• • to possess a bachelor’s degree (BSN) in an accredited registered nurse (RN) program
• • to have at least 3-5 years experience in clinical practice
• • to have completed a nurse paralegal program or have received professional certification (preferred)
• • to have full understanding of HIPAA compliance
• • to have medical records experience for long term projects

Job duties will include, but are not limited to:

• • researching and studying legal issues
• • requesting, analyzing, and summarizing medical records
• • identification and summarization of medical records – medical treatment rendered, complaints, injuries, identification of missing records/additional records needed
• • verifying the accuracy and authenticity of information
• • interviewing clients and witnesses regarding health issues
• • composing, organizing, and filing legal documents
• • providing assistance in trial preparation
• • reviewing deposition and trial transcriptions
• • provide expert testimony regarding the state of a client’s health

Successful candidates:

• • will have exceptional organization and time management skills
• • will be a team player
• • will be highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite, records management programs, timekeeping software

This position is a salaried, exempt position with a full-time schedule of 40+ hours per week.  Candidates will work out of our New Orleans office. Our firm offers a generous benefit package including medical insurance, 401k, flexible spending accounts, and paid time off.
