Position Summary


The Staff Accountant is responsible for certain responsibilities that will allow the Director of Finance to spend a greater portion of time on Financial Statement preparation and analysis, Budget and Variance issues, and Forecasting. InspireNOLA requires that accountants are able to provide monthly reports in an appropriate accounting format that are cross-walked between the finance department, site services and school administration. 


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities 


 • Assist and provide supporting documentation to auditors in conjunction with the annual school audits

• Participate in month end and/or quarterly closing process that involves payables and purchasing

• Assist with the procurement and payables process for the network

• Process Accounts Payable paperwork at completion of the check run

• Prepare labels and maintain files as needed within the department

• Prepare correspondence as needed within the department and school sites 

• Assist with payroll system and payroll related items

• Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time – quite often on short notice - by the CFO or Director of Finance

• Must be detail oriented, proactive and able to balance multiple responsibilities and task and meet deadlines

• Perform related duties as necessary to support InspireNOLA management


Position Qualifications


• Bachelors in Accounting or a Bachelors in Business with emphasis in accounting

• Approximately 2 years of experience

• Public Accounting & Audit experience, a plus

• Experience in Education or related industry is a plus

• Fund accounting experience is a plus

• Experience in reconciliations and analysis

• Knowledge of internal controls

• Advanced Excel skills


Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:


• Requires knowledge of and skills in financial management, specifically accounting. Including, but not limited to: general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll.

• Requires flexibility and ability to work in a team environment.
