Job Description
Greater New Orleans, Inc. (GNO, Inc.) is the regional economic development organization for Southeast Louisiana. GNO, Inc. has been consistently ranked a Top Ten Economic Development Organization in the USA. GNO, Inc.’s mission is to serve as the catalyst for wealth creation in the 10-parish region of Southeastern Louisiana. Its vision is for the Greater New Orleans region to fulfill its potential as one of the best places in the country to grow a company and raise a family.
While the specific duties of the Business Development Associate are detailed below, the organization operates with a cross-functional mentality. It is a job with both significant responsibilities and significant rewards, including exposure to a broad range of business and economic development leaders across the region and state, and a role in the strategy and execution of the economic resurgence of a great American city. He/She will report to the Senior Vice President of Business Development.
Key Success Factors
A successful Business Development Associate will:
• Develop positive and productive relationships with Economic Development partners and business stakeholders across the GNO region
• Plan and implement industry-specific business development strategies that align with the strengths of our regional economy; sectors could include manufacturing, entrepreneurship, supply chain/logistics, technology, and others
• Work with companies to bring business support resources and services to help drive company growth
• Support the President & CEO, SVP of Business Development, and other team members with special projects, research, and BD related activities
• Craft proactive marketing and outreach campaigns to target audiences through a variety of mediums, i.e. in-person, web, social media
• Other duties assigned, as needed
Skills and Capabilities:
The ideal candidate will possess many of these professional and personal abilities and attributes:
• Demonstrated success in economic development, business, sales, and/or marketing
• Confidence, independence, and self-starter
• Ability to work independently and make intelligent decisions
• Produces accurate work while meeting deadlines, with extraordinary attention to detail
• Manages complex relationships, i.e. governmental, community, and business
• Works in a team-oriented, goals-driven organization that emphasizes a friendly culture and takes ownership of work responsibilities
• Knowledge of Salesforce and MS Office products
Allowable Substitutions: A combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and skills for the position may be considered in lieu of education and/or experience at GNO, Inc.’s discretion.
